Love is …

Love is not love until it’s felt and received as such by the person on the receiving end.

Personally ( key word here, makes it an opinion, not a fact ), I don’t think love should be generalised, it needs to be differentiated. There are general things a person can do that shows love, I.e. Being kind, being understanding, being considerate etc etc etc. However, these are basic and general things and needs to be taken deeper.

It can become a tad frustrating when you’re there thinking you’re loving someone with all your heart and being and energy, but the person on the receiving end is not recieving it as such, they seem unbothered and unmoved though your efforts are appreciated. We then turn around and brand that person as “ungrateful” or “hard to love” when realistically, they appear as such because you’re not loving them in a way THEY…

abortion, why not.

I want to share something, and this subject is  a subject which will affect a lot of women. And I hope this post will speak to most ladies or even to those going through this problem or situation as you read. So I will try to use the right words whiles writing this.

I want to share this story about abortion. I know now you are up and alert and thinking, what is she going to say. I know a lot of women go through the struggle of “oh I am pregnant, what should I do next”. Yes, What do you do next? You are not married, or he has a girlfriend/wife, he is not ready, you are not ready, you don’t know who the father is,you are too young etc. It can be multiple reasons why you want to get rid of a child. But when you or your partner make that decision, did you really think about it, or did you just make a decision based on what is going on in your life as in now.

Look, growing up I was just like you. My dreams were to get married and have kids one day. I was all up for a big family. Who does not want that in life? But that is not how things turn out to be. I ended up with a child at the age of 18, being pregnant at 17.

When I first found out I was pregnant I was already 12 weeks pregnant. Trust me everything went through my mind except keeping a baby. The funny thing is, I did not think of the father, rather about myself, my parents and what others will think of it. And funny enough I kept her two reasons. By the time the abortion date was due I would’ve been 4 months+ and I had a friend who convinced me not to get rid of my child. I truly believe my daughter is the best thing ever and she shall become such a great leader in the future!

But the same year, I became pregnant again. And I was so calm in peoples eyes, but trust me, I was all over the place. Again, I had one friend who convinced me to keep the baby. But I was more than sure not to go through the process, and I decided to abort the child.  Just less than a year before I had my daughter.  Now looking back if I kept my child, maybe my life would have turned different. Maybe I would not have gone prison. Maybe I would have been married with two kids. Maybe I would still been living in the UK. Maybe I would not write this post today. Just “maybe”. But what was the reason for my decision and did I make the right one?

You see, people are born sinners. And it is normal for someone to judge you as soon as you do something wrong in their eyes. But funny enough when someone does exactly the same thing you do, you hesitate to judge that person unless you are hiding whatever you are doing as a sin. I was against abortion before I did it myself. I would judge when I heard a girl or woman did it, and will totally be disgusted by the thought of it. But when I was in the same situation, I did not want to be judged. I did not want the people around me to judge me. Although I had one or two friends who knew, still in my mind I knew they were judging me.

But now, listening to stories and finding out why people tend to abort etc. I don’t judge at all. But I want to speak to you today.

I watched this movie less than a week ago. A Ghanaian movie main character was Emelia Brobbey (Such a great actrice)  the story was that she was married for many years and could not conceive. So as an African marriage the in laws will get involved etc. So her husband cheated got another woman pregnant had a kid, and second one on its way. But the wife believed in Christ. She constantly prayed believing she will one day have a baby of her own. But in her case,  she got raped and guess what… she got pregnant. Her husband was not happy and it caused her marriage almost falling apart. Although she was happy she was pregnant which meant she was not barren, she hated the man who got her pregnant. It took her a long time to finally forgive, and they later found out her husband was the one with the problem etc. But anyway the moral of the story was. The woman PRAYED for a child. And God could’ve easily given her one, because she believed in him,  and the husband did not. But He Gave her the child BUT in a different form. The husband had commit a crime years ago which led him to not being able to produce any kids. But you see, what if the woman said, you know what this is a rapist kid so I don’t want it. Even though me and my husband have been trying it for over 7 years? Do you know what God is planning?? Although it came like a thief comes at night. That child might become a great leader. Do not blame the unborn for the actions of his or her parent.

Look you might say ,but you Edith do you know about what I am going through, my parents or the people in my area. Please! What do YOU know about the GOD we serve?! Look, if anyone wants to judge let them try you. Ask them if they have NOT sinned against God themselves. Ask them if they do not do wrong themselves. Moreover ask them if they even ASKED GOD FOR FORGIVENESS TODAY. Like the Nigerian actor said.. “do me a favour please… Gerrare here man!”

Ladies please, I know Europe and America provides the sources for abortion and there are thousands of clinics. I mean looking for an abortion centre or going through the process is so easy, it shocks me. But this is still done by a human being. It takes one mistake and is can be fatal! Some peoples first abortion might be the last time they will become pregnant. Some have countless abortions (trust me people do) and still are able to have kids. Don’t have countless abortions thinking one day YOU will be ready. You are NOT Jesus. He is the ONLY perfect one. And even He was seen as sinful man.

Women I am speaking to you today. A child is a blessing. You might be the woman who will carry a great leader. Do not kill the leader in you. Have faith and trust that with the unborn you will do great things. May God be with you.

And may you make the right decision.

I can do it

with roughly 7 billion people on this earth, we all know that the bible states that a woman shall give birth to human.

To the woman he said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.” – Genesis 3:16

Some women have experienced labour, and may not experience the same pain another female felt. Why is this the case? every human body is different. Women who have had more than one child will be able to understand this. There is no possible way that the pain is exactly the same, or your pregnancy was the same. It may be similar but not exactly the same. For example twins, they are born the same day (mostly) and may look alike but they will always have different characters. Why is that? Because they are two separate people. So now you are wondering if they are different people how comes, my neighbour makes it in life and I can not? How comes the girl who I studied the same course with pass with all distinctions and I hardly pass? How comes the boy I grew up with played football with made it into a good team and I am still in the hood? Ask yourself again. Where did it go wrong?

Look I will state a few things and I do not want you to start feeling guilty and think about past and stupid decisions you made then. Because most of the time it becomes a result of it, so we think.

you see if your neighbour is able to have a child, you can have one to! if your classmate is able to get a contract from a football team, knowing that you to play football you can also do it! the thing is, when it does not happen does not mean you are not good enough for the football team. It may simply mean that you have a different purpose in life. Look not every job, is for everyone. You can be looking for a job and read a job application, whiles reading it you will find out the requirements, if it does not fit into your work experiences or what is written in your CV you will simply not apply for the job.

Loads of boys want to become professional footballers in life, so it is only normal to play football when your outside, watch football, play games etc. But when you become a teenager, as a boy it becomes normal to go out with friends, and do things what most teenager do. Only a focused footballer will spend his Friday and Saturday nights at home  or at stadium doing what? Playing football not only that, but including the word of God.

Only a student will spend his or her Friday and Saturday nights at home studying for his or her exams which are coming up. and not only that but still studying the word of God. And now you are saying to yourself, but I have an unbeliever class mate who drinks every weekend but yet passes his or her exams. CORRECT! but do you have the same ability? NO that is why YOU apply the word of God and study harder. Like I said not EVERYONE is the same. So yes, he or she has passed all exams, and still parties hard. he or she eventually gets the degree, and what else? is there happiness in that persons home? does he or she have a husband or wife? never compare yourself with another human being but always know that what S/HE CAN YOU CAN DO IT TOO. but only with the word of God !

John 16:21
A woman giving birth to a child has pain because her time has come; but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish because of her joy that a child is born into the world.

this scripture personally can be applied to everyone, not specifically to women giving birth. you see it says ” A woman giving birth to a child has pain ” so this means the fact that you are giving birth is painful. look a woman had to do something to get pregnant in the first hand. She was aware of what she did and the concequences after.

The same way you know what you are doing right now, and the concequences after.

“but when her baby is born she forgets the anguish,BECAUSE of her joy that a child is born into the world” – Oh my my myyyy! when you sow a seed, you will reap what you sow!

so after I study the word of God and I studied for my upcoming exams on time, do my course work on time. respect my parents, do what I am suppose to do, all the hard work the only result I will get is JOY. it is simple work hard and earn it. if it does not work, try again, if the Lord tells you to go a different direction do so! it may NOT be your purpose. How many people do a certain course and switch to become something else. when I was younger I wanted to become a police officer, but now if you ask me, I would deny it point blank. never give up on your dreams! and never loose FAITH!

with everything you do involve the ALMIGHTY!

  • thank you. I was inspired to write this whiles watching an African movie. I stopped watching and decided to write this essay. I have not really corrected any mistakes, so I apologize in advance if any typos are found x Stay blessed my brothers and Sisters!

me +1

As a teenager, you will be in school, maybe have a part time job on a side. Living at home or getting to university. have friends, go out partying once in a while. have a boyfriend or girlfriend. Well in my situation I was doing all, which I mentioned just now, but at 18 I had another person to take care of. A mini me, I would call her. What happens is that you are now responsible for another person. now looking back at 18, I was still a kid. I look at myself now, 7 years later and I have come a long way. I have this little girl who looks up to me so much, and tries to impress me every single day. from the moment she wakes up till when she falls asleep. She tries so hard to do things right, and I just sit and laugh at the little me. I don’t always see the same things in her, but my mother does. I see her often staring at her, and shaking her head. I then ask my mother why, and then I see that look on her face. A look which simply says, Edith this is you again, but a better version.

My Mini me is such an incredible child. She has no worries. She does not cry or is not one of those kids which will start crying and kicking in shop because she wants some doll. She is understandable and I love that about her. In the evening before we sleep, or before I go to work and put her to sleep I kiss her and tell her I love her. and she says the same back. sometimes she even says it before me when I seem to forget or rush. This morning when I got home, I saw her wide awake, imagine 5.30am as a mother you are trying to sneak in the house, and you see your mini me just watching cartoons and staring at you like… and saying Good morning haha, I put her back to sleep, explaining that it is early. we hugged and simply continued our sleep.

moral of my story is, It does not matter how old or young you are, when God blesses you with a child be open to receive him or her. S/he might be the next President, the next Bishop or Evangelist, the owner of a Oil company, or a big investor. the next Millionaire or a entrepreneur. I am not saying as  a woman now go and sleep with any tom dick and harry or go ahead and find yourself a boyfriend. No, look for a husband, which was my mistake. But remember that when God plans he plans good things! He does not fail. He gives us chances. I had a great chance, and I failed that so he had to turn my things around because I did not obey him. but yet I got a blessing out of it. Many things of me were put on hold, or were cancelled and I did not understand why or how, but at the end of everyday, I am left with my +1 which I will never exchange for any amount of price.
